Potions especially you would probably be better off buying gems and using the gems -> energy and farming the potions yourself. Usually the Tome/Potion packs are a bit over priced. But by mid-late game, energy is harder to come by and it takes much more of it to progress. In the beginning, you have more energy then you can use up.
